A new A.I. horizon - Prompt Engineering

Take a sneak peak at what A.I. really has to offer!

Since ChatGPT and the surge of new A.I. tools, you might be afraid of losing your job to it. Everyone has seen the movies where A.I. and robots take over humans, then take over the world! We are not far from meeting smart, efficient and also dangerous bots. Elon Musk calls them scary good.

However, this has also proved to be the staging ground for amazing new breakthroughs and developments. The A.I. wave, has undoubtedly brought new opportunities in the I.T. sector. The most prominent one being “Prompt Engineering”. In basic, Prompt Engineering is the skill of getting exactly what you want from an A.I. Within the next few years, one can expect to graduate in a C.S. degree with a specialization in Prompt Engineering. Job opportunities are already opening up, with the first ever Prompt Engineer to be hired by Scale A.I. in December 2022.

Today, @goodside joined @scale_AI as a Staff Prompt Engineer. I am going to assert that Riley is the first Staff Prompt Engineer hired *anywhere*. These large models are a new kind of computer, and I’m excited for @scale_AI to lead the way in programming them.

Also, I found a job posting by Anthropic; looking to hire a Prompt Engineer here offering $175k - $335k of salary. Since this is a new field, it is difficult to estimate what a good portfolio for a Prompt engineer looks like. The same was said by Anthropic.

Given that the field of prompt-engineering is arguably less than 2 years old, this position is a bit hard to hire for!

I really hope to enjoy this new venture of A.I. tech and look forward to what it has to offer.
